About IHIA

The International Halal Integrity Alliance (IHIA) is an international organization created to support the integrity, recognition, and development of the global Halal industry.

IHIA works with businesses, certification bodies, manufacturers, service providers, professionals, and industry stakeholders to strengthen trust, improve compliance, and promote reliable certification and assurance practices across multiple sectors.

A Trusted Platform for Halal Integrity

IHIA was established to uphold the integrity of the Halal market concept in global trade through recognition, collaboration, membership, certification, training, and professional development.

In a global industry where Halal requirements may be interpreted and applied differently across markets, IHIA supports a more structured and professional approach. The organization provides a platform where industry players can connect, improve their systems, and work toward greater consistency, transparency, and consumer confidence.

IHIA’s role is not limited to certification. It also supports knowledge development, professional training, compliance improvement, and cooperation among stakeholders across the Halal and ethical assurance sectors.

The global Halal industry has grown rapidly, but this growth has also created challenges. Businesses, consumers, authorities, and certification bodies often face different interpretations of Halal requirements, limited access to reliable information, and a need for stronger cooperation across the industry.

IHIA was formed to help address these challenges by providing a neutral and professional platform for collaboration, recognition, education, and integrity-based industry development.

The organization supports the idea that Halal should be understood not only as a religious requirement, but also as a system of trust involving sourcing, hygiene, traceability, documentation, ethical practice, and consumer protection.

Our Background

The International Halal Integrity Alliance was incorporated as a company limited by guarantee in Labuan on 30 April 2007.

The formation of IHIA followed a resolution passed at the inaugural World Halal Forum in May 2006, where international delegates from across the Halal industry value chain recognized the need for a dedicated industry organization.

The World Halal Forum marked an important moment for the global Halal sector, bringing issues affecting the industry into a professional and open arena. IHIA was created as part of this wider movement to strengthen coordination, credibility, and global development within the Halal industry.

IHIA is committed to supporting a Halal and compliance environment built on integrity, professionalism, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

We believe that reliable certification and assurance systems should help organizations:

  • Build consumer confidence
  • Improve documentation and traceability
  • Reduce compliance risks
  • Strengthen internal management systems
  • Support ethical and responsible business practices
  • Improve access to local and international markets
  • Protect the credibility of Halal and related certification programs

Supporting Trust Across the Supply Chain

The Halal economy depends on trust. Consumers want confidence in what they buy, businesses need access to reliable certification pathways, and authorities require clearer systems for compliance and verification.

IHIA supports this trust by helping organizations strengthen their internal systems and demonstrate compliance through documented, auditable, and recognized processes.

Across sectors such as food, hospitality, slaughtering, animal feed, cosmetics, logistics, laboratories, Islamic finance, and ethical certification programs, IHIA helps organizations move from general claims toward reliable assurance.
